There were 60 people present at the April Membership meeting. Support YOUR club!

            When you come out to the club for any event, make sure you sign the membership book located inside of the back room of the club. The club by-laws require you as a member to sign the book at least 12 times per year.

            There is a new board with a suggestion box above the shelf where the sign-in book is located. Put any suggestions in the box for things you would like to see done around the club.

Club Work Party April 28^th

There will be a club work party held Saturday April 28^th starting at 9:00 AM. Help is needed to perform maintenance tasks in many areas of the club grounds. Contact Tony Grant @ 734-439-7802 for more information. Now is the time of the year to get your work hours in. The more people that come out, the more that will get done.

*****8^th Annual Mexican Fiesta Dinner May 5^th *****

Dennis and Rebecca Williams will host the 8^th annual Mexican Fiesta Dinner May 5^th starting at 6:00 PM.  The cost per meal is $10.00.  If you missed the dinner last year, you missed an “OUTSTANDING DINNER” and a fantastic time!!! Dennis and Rebecca put a lot of effort into the preparation of the food.  Please contact Dennis or Rebecca Williams @ 734-467-5282 or 734-673-2184 to let them know if you are attending or for more details so they may have an idea of how much food they need to prepare.  Help is needed starting at 1:00 PM.

Gun-A-Day Raffle

The tickets are in for the Gun-A-Day Raffle that will start in June. There are 700 plus tickets out and the money and stubs have been rolling in. Art still has a little fewer than 300 tickets to be sold. The ticket stubs and money or unsold tickets need to be turned in no latter than the May 17^th membership meeting. Varmint Shoot May 5^th      

The Varmint Shoot will be held May 5^th at 10:00 AM. Sign in from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Center fire starts shooting @ 10:00 AM. Contact Tom Gray @ 734-439-1976, Dave Rochon @ 734-461-6090 or Dennis Sisung @ 734-654-9747 for more details.

Steak Roast May 12^th  

Scott Klostermeier and Scott Wipple will host the May 12^th Steak Roast. Help is always needed. 100 steaks will be purchased for the next dinner. The April steak roast was hosted by Steve Caplinger, John Little, and DJ.  95 Dinners were sold at the April steak roast. Thanks to Steve Caplinger, John Little, DJ, and all of the other helpers that made the April steak roast a success. For new members in the club, a steak roast is not hard to host or to help with and it is an easy way to get your work hours in. The cost of a Steak Dinner is $13.00. If you can host a Steak Roast or wish to help with one, please contact Dennis Williams @ 734-467-5282 and let him know that you would like to help out.  If you are bringing extra people to the steak roast, please call Dennis and let him know. We came up short of steaks at the April steak roast due to a couple of large un-announced groups coming in. Come out and support YOUR club!

2012 Archery Travel League

The schedule for the 2012 Archery Travel League is as follows: April 29^th @ Dundee, May 6^th @ Canvasback, May 13^th @ Monroe Rod & Gun, May 20^th @ Carleton, June 10^th @ Maybee Sportsman Club, July 8^th @ Wildwood. 30-3D Archery Shoot April 15^th 

There were 34 archers at the 30-3D archery shoot held at Maybee Sportsman Club on Sunday April 15^th. This was an Archery Travel League shoot.

MCCC Traveling Trap League

We are now in 4^th place in the MCCC Traveling Trap League. The next shoot will be at Wayne County on Sunday May 13^th. On June 10^th we will shoot at Ottawa Lake and on June 17^th we will shoot at Monroe Rod & Gun. Come out and shoot to support your club!

Concealed Pistol License Class May 19^th and May 20^th                       

There are still 9 openings for the concealed pistol license class to be held on Saturday May 19^th and Sunday May 20^th at the club. You must attend both days to get your certificate. Saturday May 19^th will be classroom instruction from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday May 20^th will be live fire on the range from 9:30 AM to12:30 PM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. You MUST own your own pistol to take this class.  The cost is $100.00 for non-members of the Maybee Sportsman Club and $50.00 for members of the Maybee Sportsman Club.  A simple lunch will be available for a fee. Military Rifle Shoot May 12^th                     

Starting in April and through October there will be two Military Rifle Shoots each month. The Saturday shoot at 5:00 PM before the steak roast will continue. Contact Dennis Sisung @ 734-654-9747 for details. The Tuesday evening Military Rifle Shoot will be held Tuesday May 29^th at 6:00 PM until finished. Watch the calendar for any change in dates or times.  The fee for the Military Rifle Shoot is $5.00 for club members and $6.00 for non-members with prize money paid.  Any Military Rifle is allowed.  The rifle used must be stock, open sights, and unmodified. We shoot 20 rounds of rifle and 5 rounds of handgun. The handgun must be stock with open sights and may be any caliber. Handgun is 5 shots @ 25 yards. Rifle is 10 rounds @ 50 yards and 10 rounds @ 100 yards on the rail or prone. Welcome New Members

The membership voted on 5 persons for Associate membership and 2 persons for Junior membership in the Maybee Sportsman Club. The Associate applicants were Chris Gibson Jr., Ben Hershberger, Timothy Hufford, John McLaughlin, and Joe Wood. The Junior applicants were Payton Zorn and Holden Zorn. Come out, meet the members, and participate in club activities such as Archery, Trap, Varmint shoot, and our famous Steak Roast Dinners.

Annual Carlton Beer Shoot March 24^th

The annual beer shoot against Carleton Sportsman Club held Saturday March 24^th was not kind to The Maybee Sportsman Club.  We were the losing club that paid for the beer!

Club Apparel

Club apparel is in the showcase!  Martin Okkerse is the contact person for club apparel.  Decals of the club logo are now available for $6.00. A good stock of shirts from Medium to 2XL is on hand.  There are also 2 Extra Large jackets in stock. See the club website for pricing on club apparel. Contact Martin Okkerse before 8:00 PM at 734-587-3566 or see him at the Membership meetings to order shirts, hats, jackets, or any other items that you may want embroidered with the club logo. There is a price list posted at the showcase.

Sponsoring New Members

When you sponsor new members, remember the dues are $80.00 per year and the initiation fee is $100.00 ($180.00 total). Make sure their money is included with their application and that the prospective new members know that they “MUST WORK” their hours the first year of membership. Applicants for Associate membership should show up at the meeting when they are being voted into the club or have a good reason why they can’t be there.
